Waste Management - The Woodhorn Group

The Woodhorn Group operates three licensed waste management sites in West Sussex and Hampshire with a total licensed capacity of 108,000 tonnes.

We receive over 80,000 tons of local green waste each year at our sites in Tangmere, Runcton and Hayling Island, which is composted to create our Earth Cycle range of high quality peat free compost and soil conditioning products.

We also accept wood waste, which is processed into a woodchip for board making (e.g. chipboard and MDF for construction materials and kitchen units) and as a renewable energy fuel source. Metals from this, such as nails and other fixings, are separated and also sent for recycling.

At our sites we are licensed to accept:

EWC Code 02 01 03 – plant tissue waste (All sites)
EWC Code 02 01 04 – wastes from forestry (All sites)
EWC Code 03 01 01 – waste bark (All sites)
EWC Code 17 02 01 – wood (Tangmere site)
EWC Code 20 01 38 – wood other than mentioned in 20 01 37 (Tangmere site)
EWC Code 20 02 01 – biodegradable waste (All sites)

We are not able to accept soil, stone, hardcore, turf and hazardous waste.

With direct access to the A27 and A259, our sites are suitable for a wide customer base. Our customers currently range from Local Authorities across the South East and national Waste Management Companies, to local landscape gardeners, skip companies and the local industry.

Our Green Waste Story

The video takes viewers through the 14 week composting production cycle, showing each carefully controlled stage of the journey from the waste bin collection right the way through to the final product being delivered to their door.

All the green waste we receive is composted under carefully controlled conditions to produce high quality products, as defined by the British Standard for Composted Materials – BSI PAS 100.

Public access to our sites is restricted due to health and safety reasons. We ask that customers looking to purchase our Earth Cycle products do so from one of our licensed stockist from our Earth Cycle website.
