Research over the last 30 years has illustrated many benefits of using recycled, peat free compost. This product has undergone a totally natural process, monitored every step of the way to ensure it has been sterilised and is free from weed seeds and pathogens. All physical contaminants are also removed resulting in a clean stable product.
The Benefits of using this product:
-
Improves soil structure and porosity, creating a better plant root environment
-
Increases moisture infiltration and permeability on heavy soils improving drainage and a significant reduction in erosion
-
Can help improve and stabilise soil pH
-
Supplies a variety of macro and micro nutrients
-
Adds a significant quantity of Organic matter
-
Beneficial micro-organisms are added to the soil improving nutrient uptake and suppressing some soil-borne diseases
How & where to use this product:
As a soil amendment incorporated into the top 150-200mm of soil
-
This will give light soils structure and help prevent erosion
-
Heavy soils will benefit from increased drainage from the organic matter present
-
Reduces soil compaction on heavily used areas
-
Increased nutrient levels and reduced need for fertilisers due to the slow release nature of compost
-
Contains full spectrum of trace elements
-
Earth Cycle Composts are biologically active and contain a complex mix of microorganisms which have been shown to suppress a range of plant pathogen species which cause a variety of symptoms including, wilting, root rots and tissue necrosis.
Used as a weed suppressor/mulch (Surface treatment 25/50mm layer)
-
Signicantly reduces weed burden so less need for pesticides or weeding
-
Increased soil temperature
-
Improvement in soil water retention
-
Slow release natural fertilisers (no need for artificial fertilisers for up to three years after initial application depending on amount first applied.)
-
Full range of trace elements
Care must be taken with some ericaceous plants such as Camelias, rhodedendrons etc. Composts above 6.5 pH will adversely affect the growth of plants requiring an acid soil. However a lower rate of compost can be used e.g. 15% by volume as long as the other component in the mix are not alkaline over pH7.
The Earth Cycle have now achieved Pas 100 status on its Compost products. This means our customers can be confident that we are providing a top quality tested product, that has been monitored every step of the process and conforms to the Composting Associations tough standards.
